Fun Things to Do In Solana Beach
San Diego Beach Hikes– Solana Beach to Carlsbad in North County San Diego is an inspiring and intriguing hike. To relax, I normally stop on my way house from work to trek from Solana Beach to Carlsbad on the beach. For stunning sunsets and “tasty waves”. The beach between Cardiff to Carlsbad or from Solana Beach to Cardiff cannot be beaten.Cardiff – Note: you need to check the tide charts because if you’re trying to hike this hike at high tide or with high tide coming in your beach will be covered with water!
From Solana Beach beginning at Dog Beach in Del Mar, near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Via De La Valle. This hike takes you along the bluff north, through Solana Beach to Cardiff by the Sea. You will pass the Del Mar Beach Club. You can’t help but notice the Solana Beach Homes on the top of the bluff with their oceanfront presence. South towards Cardiff, you will soon see restaurant row in Cardiff. Restaurant row is situated south of the lagoon inlet, Cardiff campgrounds, California State Parks, right in front of Cardiff Reef a favorite surf spot. The Chart House and Pacific Grill restaurants are there to enjoy. Past the restaurants, you will be the beginning of the bluffs that will line the beach to the end of the hike. A location just past the campgrounds heading north to Encinitas is known as “Swami’s” The name derives from the fact the location above the bluff is the home to the Self Awareness Fellowship Center. This area is a world-class California surf spot but can often be crowded, this is a good place to take a break, watch the surfers and take in the view.
North of Swami’s, you will travel along a long strip of sand at the base of 50 to 60-foot bluffs in the town of Encinitas. Encinitas is one of my all-time favorite places in the world. The walk to Carlsbad through Encinitas is fairly long. With the high bluffs, you will find areas of the beach that are deserted. Yes, even during summer. The only thing separating the solitude is Moonlight Beach, a fun and popular family-friendly sandy beach with volleyball nets, fire pits, bathrooms, outside showers and some concessions in the summer. Otherwise, it’s simply you, shells and joggers until you come to the end of the bluffs at La Costa in South Carlsbad. The Solana Beach to South Carlsbad hike is about 8 miles The walk is flat and filled with beauty, the sound of the waves, the beauty of the bluffs, the magnificent homes, the people and the smell of sea air to help you think. By the end, you will be tired but satisfied that your spirit and mind have been well fed.
